6 Ways to Nail January When You’re Skint

Let’s face it, January is tough. Especially if you’ve given up booze and pizza. I’ve actually done none of those things but am trying to get through the month without spending all money in the second week. Here are a few things that I’ll be doing to keep me going. Go give ’em a try.

1. Stay at Home in Your PJs
To be honest, this is my favourite thing to do no matter the month, weather and regardless of how skint I am. I’d recommend having a bubble bath, paint your nails, neck some vino, whack on a face mask et voila. A pamper day for one.

2. Stretch it Out
The only yoga I have ever done is all courtesy of my fave Yoga with Adriene. Throughout January she’s running a yoga revolution, releasing a new video each day. Go do it. Give your body a good stretch. You’ll feel so good after.

3. Go for Long, Chilly Walks
I’m lucky to have several parks near by as well being close to Bushy Park, Virginia Waters and Hampton Court, so have a load of beautiful greenery to surround myself with. Mine and Al’s plan is to wonder there every now and then, especially when we’re trying to escape wedding talk and planning.

4. Besties + Netflix + Beans on Toast
Job done. There’s only two things that could make this combo stronger, pjs and prosecco. See point 1 to reiterate how important these things are for me.

5. Go to the Seaside
There’s something calming and magical about staring out at such a huge expanse of blue sea. I love the sound of waves lapping at the shore. I love the salty smell. I love the feeling of serenity and peace it always gives me. I don’t even mind the squawks from the seagulls. My recommendation would be Avon Beach. Go early for breakfast at The Noisy Lobster and then walk down to Mudeford Quay for a pot of cockles.

6. Organise All the Shit
I realise I could have put wardrobe but actually, there’s so much more to organise. Feel free to start with your wardrobe, get it all out and then put away anything you’ve worn more than once in the past 6-12 months. Anything else, either give to friends or charity. Then tackle that chest of drawers that don’t shut and the mess under the bed that keeps escaping.

  1. Staying home in my pyjamas is one of my favourite things to do full stop! Watching movies while I’m in pyjamas as well, I love that and find it so relaxing.
