When Bad Sequins Happen to Good People: Jennifer Lawrence in Valentino Couture

Now before I get into the swing of things, I want to set the scene of this new type of post on my blog. ‘When Bad Sequins Happen to Good People’ is pretty much what it says on the tin. It’s when someone I like is wearing sequins that I don’t think are right/suit them/sparkle enough, I could go on here. Got it? Good.

Bad Sequin Victim:
None other than the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence

When and Where:
Wednesday night’s People’s Choice Awards

Valentino Couture dress and bag, Nicholas Kirkwood shoes and Cartier jewellery

Here’s the thing. I don’t want to dislike this dress at all. In fact I should like everything about it. It would usually tick all my boxes. It’s sequins galore. It has a hint of flapper about it. It’s a mini and has a slit up the front revealing her incredible legs. It even has bat-wing arms. But here’s the thing, I just don’t think it suits her. She has an amazing figure, a real toned, athletic frame and this dress just doesn’t do her justice. I think it’s the bat wings and the sleeves, it makes it quite boxy. I’d have loved for this dress to be sleeveless and backless. She can go more daring.

On the plus side she won two awards that night! Wahoo. Girl power.

*I would like to thank the work wife for coming up with this brilliant title. I loves it.*
