All Hail Mary Katrantzou…

I am so in love with Mary Katrantzou’s spring/summer collection it’s unreal. In fact if I could post all 26 images then I would…but I haven’t.

For her first stand-alone show Mary used bold colours, three dimensional shapes and pictures of interiors to bring her clothes to life. Drawing inspiration from seventies interior photography of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin, she decided to “put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room”.

And it completely worked….

The reality of these dresses is extraordinary. The silhouette is defined and the prints so in depth. Swaths of chiffon were made to hang from the body creating curtains…

While some of the shapes were quite structured others were very exaggerated, depending on the view…

It’s so nice to see a designer break from the norm and create something completely new and refreshing.

I agree with style.com’s prediction of seeing Anna Dello Russo in any of these dresses…

Ha, I just did a post about her myself! Bloody love her. If I was to pick the designer who comes the closest to McQueen in terms of artistry, it'd be her.
