I haven’t shopped in Topshop for a very long time now because flesh-baring crops tops, bum-skimming denim shorts and body-con ribbed dresses aren’t my bag. However, their new white shirt collection, packed-full with Victorian ruffles, spoke to my nearing-30 body.
I’ve admired countless white shirts in the past, mainly from Cos, but am yet to buy my own. Instead I choose to wear Al’s oversized, peeking out from under a chunky knit in the winter. While I 100% plan to continue that trend this year, I’d also like my own all-white number but I don’t want it to be plain, I want it over the top, and that’s where Topshop come in.
This Poplin Ruffle Shirt with its Victoriana high neck, full body ruffles and mini cut-outs are what I’m after to tuck into my oxblood, pleated-leather midi skirt this autumn. Pair it with their silver Maggie Flare Heeled Boots and I am done.
It’s that prim and proper look that I’m after. That kinda sexy look without showing any flesh. And I’m digging it.
Topshop, it’s nice to have you back.
