The Night the 1940s Came Back to London

After attending my first Blitz Party in Shoreditch last night for a hen do, I’ve decided that I want to dress like a 1940s woman every day of the rest of my life.

I managed to find this beauty of a dress on ASOS Marketplace for under £20. I love the turquoise and blues and the way the pattern sort of looks like animal print. It hit just below the knee and was perfect for swirling. The best bit is the cut out back, perfect for releasing heat when the bunker got packed and sweaty!

I paired it with sheer seamed tights, strapped chunky heels and pearls, of course.

The beautiful hen, Cat, worked a fitted red dress, red lips and brilliantly coiffed hair, while Sarah wore a cute skater-style dress in mustard with rolled hair. I’ve known these two since I was 4 years old and they are the absolute bestest.

Everyone there had dressed up to the nines. The girls were all in tea
dresses with curls and red lips, while the boys looked handsome in
sailor outfits or RAF pilot suits, perfect for pictures.

A live swing band played throughout the night, we did some swing dancing, drank old-fashioned cocktails and caused a lot of havoc. Overall it was one of the best nights ever. I spent the whole night laughing. If you’ve never been before I would definitely recommend it.
