I leave Twitter alone for all of an hour and everything changes. Firstly Facebook has bought Instagram for $1billion (Mark Zuckerberg clearly has way too much money to play with), but more importantly, Raf Simons has been confirmed to takeover the reigns at Dior.
MAJOR NEWS!
An official statement will be released Wednesday, but for now the NYT has just reported that Simons is set to fill Jon Galliano’s shoes after those anit-Semantic remarks got him fired last year.
Simons himself was fired from Jil Sander earlier this year to make room for the return of the houses’s original founder which left some admirers hoping for the start of his own label.
I’m curious to see what becomes of this. Simons is known for his simple lines and clean cut, whereas Dior is all about exquisite girlish details.
With the first collection due out in July for the haute couture shows, we’ll just have to wait and see what this collaboration brings up.
What do you think? Will Raf Simons bring Dior to life?
