In the mornings I don’t have much time to put a face on. I whack on a bit of tinted moisturiser, conceal the dark shadows under my eyes, curl my eyelashes (this takes the majority of my time as they’re refusing to hold a curl these days), jab some mascara on and pow, done.
In all honesty I’ve gotten a little lazy. I love makeup and I love experimenting with it, swooshing all the shades from my trusty Naked palette over my lids. Trying out all the mascaras I own trying to work out which one does the job I want (hello long and curly lashes), and swiping lippy over my lips until they’re red raw. But in the morning, all I want is something that gives me a bit of colour and makes me look alive.
I’ve road tested some swooshing action and now have my 10-minute morning makeup routine nailed. Here it goes…
I apply Laura Mercier Foundation Primer to my forehead, chin and tops of my cheeks, and follow with a light slathering of Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser in blush, both of which I apply with my fingers. I then use my Real Techniques buffing brush to buff the product into my skin. To conceal dark shadows, spots and general redness, I’m currently using Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer.
After my base is complete, in a matter of minutes, I give my eyebrows a quick neaten by running Soap & Glory’s Archery Pencil through the naked parts and then Maybelline Brow Drama to keep them in place.
I always end with the eyes. Mainly because for me they take the longest amount of time, and the amount of time I have factors into what I can be bothered to do. I’ve been loving taking Toasted, from my Naked Palette and applying to my whole lid. If I have time I might add a little Hustle in the outer corner and crease. To add some length and drama I swipe three coatings of Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express Mascara. With just minutes left to go I finish with a slick of Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in Streak.
Then I’m out the door.
