I’m having a love affair with purple at the moment. I have this purple dress, the hat and a purple animal-print scarf that has been tightly wound around my neck now it’s turned chilly again, so it only seemed right to experiment a little more with my makeup.
When I first saw this Lancôme Hynôse Doll Eyes Palette in Reflect d’Amésthyste, I wasn’t sure about the shades and how I’d make them work for me. There are five shades, two pale pinks, one pale purple all with a lot of shimmer, and then two punchier deep purples. The palette comes with a suggested guide showing you which shade to apply where to create a wide-eyed look.
I, however, decided to ignore all of that and dive straight in for the boldest of the bunch. I also decided to use my fingers and forgo any brushes for this look, making it the quickest smokey eye I’ve ever applied.
I swept shade 3 all over my lid, smudging it as I went, before applying shade 4 to the middle and finishing with a dab of 5 in the iner corner as a highlighter. When I normally do a smokey eye I always run a brown or black liner along my top lash line, but today I decided not to. Instead I smudged a tiny line of Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liner in Neptune in the outer corner, hoping it’d help highlight my natural baby blues.
To finish, as always, I applied a couple of layers of Lancôme’s Hypnôse Drama Mascara. I have a few on the go at the moment but this is still my favourite in terms of holding a curl and giving volume.
And there you have it, a three product smokey eye in less than 5 minutes.
