3 Ways to Wear a Check Shirt

When your best friend gives you a bright yellow and red, oversize check shirt with bat sleeves, you’d take it as a personal challenge to find the three best ways you can wear it, right?

Right. Well here are mine.

With a Skater Skirt…

I thought this would be too obvious a place to start but I’m not known for being anything else, so here goes. I love skater skirts and will try and wear mine with absolutely anything. Tucked in tees, un-tucked over-sized jumpers, checked shirts, you name it.

I love how cute a shirt looks tucked in usually, but this is no normal shirt. It has all the essentials, stiff white collar, buttons down the front, cuffs – don’t let this fool you. You see the shirt is cut long on the shoulders so hangs massively around the body. I like roomy clothing so this always excites me. The main challenge though is in the length. It’s cropped. I’d just like to stop at this point and take into account the fact that I have a ridiculously long body, so a normal cropped top is usually super cropped on me.

This makes it difficult to tuck in properly, but great for mastering that just thrown on, half in half out look. Plus, look at the volume I can get when twirling in the wind…

With Red Jeans…

What could be better than pairing my yellow and red shirt with a pair of dark red, waxed jeans. Nothing. So that’s what I’ve done.

The jeans get slouchier by the minute which I like with the size of the shirt. It makes it look more relaxed and a little casual.

The heels definitely smarten the look up, taking it from work to bar. If I could walk in these particular heels that is.

With a Pencil Skirt…

This is the furthest from my comfort zone of relaxed-fitting clothes. I don’t do figure hugging at all really. Until now, in the name of research and my blog. I’m too good to you.

I have to say, I don’t mind the end results. I love when a volumous top is paired with a tight skirt. What’s even better is that I dug this out and dusted it off and it still fit this ass.

If I had to pick a favourite out of the three I think it’s pretty obvious which one I’d shamelessly go for. *cough* skater skirt *cough*.

Shout out to Sop for the shirt, you little beauty.

How would you wear it?
