Graduate Fashion Week…

Whoop-de-whoop. Wednesday came and went in a big blur of excitement and annoyance-damn tube strike! It was my last day at my intern so was busy busy busy getting lots of writing done before the Fashion Ed goes on holiday, the office was unbelievably empty. I had such a good time there and didn’t even have to make tea. I got to contribute my ideas, write loads for the site which relaunched just before I got there and I got given loads of beauty freebies which always helps . I also helped write some of the content for the boys site which also had a relaunch. Check out the teen girls site here www.mykindaplace.com.

When my final day finished I then hot footed it with what seemed like a million others onto the crammed tubes back to meet a friend at Waterloo before we trekked it back on the tubes to Earls Court for Graduate Fashion Week. What a mission!

Anyways…we turned up all decked out in our finest, trying to look cool and relaxed but really we were both so excited we looked at a bit like two excited little girls. When we got in what I first noticed was how good and experimental everyone looked. There were the obvious trends of skinny jeans, checked shirts, dresses and blazers (yes I did fall into this category), great headgear, leggings..and the list goes on….I loved just spending time people watching and just seeing what everyone was wearing. It’s so nice to walk into a place where people are more willing to take risks when it comes to fashion and push the boundaries. Although some of the items people were wearing were similar everyone had their own individual style which was refreshing.

This is what I wore…and yes the pics were taken on the train on the way home…

(dress ASOS, tights French Connection, blazer mum’s vintage, shoes New Look, scarf worn as belt tesco, beads Primark and cuff ASOS)

And the partner in crime, Cheryl, makes her debut….

(jeans and wedges Matalan, sequin top vinatge, jewellery borrowed from her sister)

We had a quick wander around some of the university stalls having a quick peak at what to expect from the main gala show (the one where they announce the winners) before heading back to the centre area where there was a sectioned off space for special people with special tickets which we didn’t have! Spotted the amazing Susie Bubble in there looking fantastic as ever. She had a stand inside the event so she could cover everything. The show was running late letting everyone in so we celeb spotted…Claudia Schiffer..normally so beautiful looking but was wearing sooo much makeup she looked a little too drag queen for my liking… But Erin O’Connor, Amber le Bon and Rosie Huntington Whiteley looked drop dead gorgeous. Their skin kinda glowed in the lights.

As we entered as ‘press’ we got third row seats and goodie bags which meant I was able to take a few pics of the show. I will post these separately as I have loads I want to say about the clothes and I feel I’ve waffled on so much already. Anyway it was a great evening..made me wish I’d been to some of the shows earlier in the week. It seems the bar has really been raised when it comes to graduate fashion. It’s their one big moment to show off all their skills and hard work so they’re more willing to take risks and push the boundaries of what we class as ‘normal fashion’ to the extremes.

Ahhh think that will do for now….keep your eyes out for the pics from the shows….finally this is me and Cheryl at the after party..
