Weekend Styling

My favourite kind of weekend involves little more than moving from my bed to my sofa, with the help of Elle magazine, chips and guac and my laptop. This weekend however I had a bigger job ahead of me as Al and I decided it was time to attack the house and unpack those pesky boxes we haven’t looked at since moving in together a year ago.

It also meant delving into our wardrobes and ruthlessly throwing out any item we haven’t worn recently. Which reminded me of my trusty Topshop mum jeans which look all the better when paired with an oversize ASOS tee, floral kimono and Kurt Geiger leopard and glitter trainers. And a bright pink lip obviously.

My Current Favourite Outfit

I have found the perfect transitional dress that’s currently paving the bare leg vs tights dilemma.

It’s a fit and flare ASOS number which hugs my chest and then puffs out from the waist, hitting a couple of inches below the knee. It’s the ultimate dress to bridge the gap between seasons. It’s made from a fairly thin material so you won’t overheat if the sun’s out and it’s long enough to allow you to go bare legged without getting chilly when the sun disappears.

This dress is so flattering I could quite happily wear it day in, day out. I love the pattern, I love the tight sleeves which finish just above the elbow and I love how many compliments it receives when I wear it.

At the moment I’m pairing it with an old over-sized snake-print blazer from Topshop, my trusty River Island black boots, glittery socks (always) and a pedometer – part of a ‘get active’ work scheme.

This dress also has the all important twirl factor.

What I’m Wearing:

Belt, ASOS
Blazer, Topshop
Boots, River Island
Glitter socks, Topshop
Necklace, Topshop
Watch, Michael Kors

3 Ways to Wear a Midi Skirt

In case you hadn’t noticed, midi skirts are set to be everywhere this summer. So last weekend, when we actually had some nice weather, I dug out my fail-safe black lace midi and styled it three different ways for a bit of inspiration. Because I’m kind like that.

None of these looks are drastic, just regular ways that I’ll be rocking my midi this summer.

With a Colourful Tee…

I have to start by saying this is my go-to tee in the summer. It’s a classic Olivia Rubin brick print which I feel like I’ve had forever but still goes with everything. Obviously where there’s a bright pink tee there should of course be a bright pink lip too.

I find this skirt is actually a little big on me around the waist, so to disguise the gape and to make it appear more flattering, I tuck my tops in and highlight with my favourite chain belt.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, ASOS
Tee, Olivia Rubin Brick Print
Belt, ASOS
Boots, River Island
Necklace, Whistles
Leather cuff, Whistles
Watch, Michael Kors

With a Jumper…

First off, I just have to give credit to Al, who after taking a couple of pics, walked over and tucked the right side of my jumper into the belt. He then took a few steps back, gave a satisfied nod and started taking pictures again. Essentially he styled me.

And I love it. I often like to wear a chunky jumper with a skirt, channelling my inner Carrie Bradshaw. Do be aware that it isn’t always the most figure-flattering look, which is why I’ve belted over the skirt and jumper here. It’s important to highlight that you do have some sort of waist hiding under all the material.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, ASOS
Jumper, Warehouse
Belt, ASOS
Shoes, Dune
Necklace, Australia
Leather cuff, Whistles
Watch, Michael Kors

 With a White Shirt…

I’d like to think of this as my most grown-up look of the bunch. I mean how could you ever go wrong with a shirt. Especially a sheer one with shoulder cut outs. I like how it’s not fitted and slight puffs around the belted waist.

As for the shoes, these are my trusted strapped wedges which go with anything and can be worn all night. Always a bonus.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, ASOS
Shirt, Mum’s wardrobe
Vest, Primark
Belt, ASOS
Shoes, River Island
Necklaces, Forever 21
Leather cuff, Whistles
Watch, Michael Kors

What do you think, will you be rocking the midi skirt this summer?

A/W Topshop Wants

I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for autumn to kick in. I’m longing to whip out my tights, boots and winter coats. I want to go for long walks wrapped in scarves, kicking leaves off the path as we go.

It’s about now that I start browsing my favourite sites, working out what I want to buy to get me through the colder months.

First up Topshop.
And I want it all…

Leather Loving

Today has been the perfect
lazy Saturday. I’ve spent the day catching up on my sleep, cleaning the
house and online dream shopping. That kind where you put all of your
dream items into your shopping bag and then close the browser. I’ve also fallen back in love with Polvore.

I forgot just how useful it was to pull together my favourite items to create a whole look.

Leather Loving

Karl Blanca PVC front shirt, £52.50. Karl Saba faux leather skirt, £40.50. LD Tuttle The Burn two-tone leather sandals, £112.50, Alexander McQueen De Manta leather tote, £845.

I spotted the skirt in the sale and have fallen under it’s spell. I already have a cheap version of this skirt from Matalan but it’s a little on the large side. I can imaging wearing this with heavy jumpers and a thick tight for autumn.

As for the shirt, well, what can I say. I’ve been looking for the perfect white shirt to patch a hole in my wardrobe and I think this one could be a serious contender. I love the PVC bib.
I don’t own a pair of LD Tuttle shoes but these seem like the perfect ones. A chunky mid heel and loads of straps. The perfect shoe to take me from work to play.
As for the bag…Don’t even get me started. I’ve already been there.

I’m just going to have to keep on dreaming. Thanks Net-A-Porter.
