I Want My Carrie Bradshaw Moment in This Skirt

I believe that every girl deserves to have her own Carrie Bradshaw moment and that mine definitely needs to be in this skirt.

This fairytale Elisa Skirt from Kirsty Doyle, is super dreamy. It’s cut in silk organza with layer after layer of fine tulle which gives this skirt incredible volume. It looks ballerina like and that is something I never was. I do not ooze grace and elegance but this skirt sure looks like it could do the job.

I love the idea of layering cosy cable-knit jumpers on top of a little cami and then pulling on some socks and converse. See, I can’t stay elegant for long. I definitely need to rough it up.

Kirsty Doyle creates utterly beautiful clothes that are feminine and sexy in a subtle way and I’m all for that. Be still my beating heart.

Have you had your Carrie moment?

3 Ways to Wear a Faux-Leather Pleated Midi Skirt

I broke my shopping ban and bought a skirt.

It’s not just any skirt, this is a Zara faux-leather midi skirt with soft pleats in a gorgeous oxblood colour. And it was all K.O Rasoi’s fault. Yes it was. She dangled this carrot in front of my face and I trotted straight towards it. Happily.

It’s a beaut of a skirt, and one that I know I can get a lot of wear out of. I have a soft spot for faux leather. To prove to myself that I needed this, I styled it in three different ways. A girl’s gotta know her CPW. That’s cost per wear by the way.

With All Black Lace…

First up, I wanted to check that I could pair this skirt with flats as well as heels. It felt only right to top the look off with a lot of lace, both with my jumper and tights. It’s slightly gothic, especially with a slick of deep plum lipstick.

Obviously I had to twirl. It just tends to happen when I wear a skirt like this.

What I’m Wearing:
Shirt, Zara
Vest, ASOS
Jumper, Warehouse
Brogues, Topshop
Necklace, Auzzie shop that I can’t remember

Watch, Michael Kors

Cuff, Whistles

With My Boy’s White Shirt…

I love wearing my boyfriend’s white shirt. While I appreciate that it’s not always the most flattering due to it being oversized and built for a boy, I don’t particularly care.
I love the crisp, stiff white of the shirt against the supple and soft faux leather. It’s a simple but effective outfit for me and makes me look like I’ve got my shit together. And I’m all for that.
I also need to bust these heels out more often. I had completely forgotten about them.
What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, Zara
Shirt, Al’s
Heels, Kurt Geiger
Necklaces, Forever 21

Watch, Michael Kors

Cuff, Whistles

With a Casual Rock Tee…

I know what you’re thinking, that I wear this tee far too often as it has featured in nearly all my blog pics recently but I just can’t help myself. It’s oversized (mainly because it used to be Al’s brothers and then his, and now mine), it’s made of the softest cotton and it sparkles. Case made your honour.

I feel like this outfit is definitely the most ‘me’ and one I’ll wear a lot. Probably because I’ve paired this outfit with my BRAND NEW GLITTER BOOTS. And glitter socks. Hell yeah, I went all out.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, Zara
Tee, Al’s
Heels, Ebay – River Island
Socks, Topshop

Watch, Michael Kors

Cuff, Whistles

Ahhhhhh, I’m in love. Although I am very aware that I need to make sure I don’t tuck too much extra material into the top of the skirt as I don’t want to look too hippy. Or 6 months pregnant. Which isn’t the case but due to my IBS does happen. What a way to end a post.

Picked up a new skirt? I want to know about it. How do you wear yours?

My Trusty Cold-Weather Skirts

I have three skirts which, when worn with suitable layers and thick black tights, can get me through any situation no matter how miserable the weather is outside. These are my reliable and trusty cold-weather skirts.

First up, a pop of colour…

Pink Tulip Skirt

This skirt always reminds me of a giant Quality Street. It’s bright pink, shiny looking and in the shape of a bubbled tulip. It’s perfect for tucking tops or jumpers in to. It’s a definite stand-out item.

Whenever I put this on I feel instantly more glam. I love the folds and pleats in this skirt and the way it bubbles under at the bottom.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, ASOS
Jumper, Warehouse
Belt, ASOS
Boots, River Island
Necklace, present
Watch, Michael Kors

Leather Skater Skirt:

If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know that I love a skater skirt. It’s my go-to and fall-back skirt. If in doubt, choose skater. That’s my motto.

This one is a tad too big for me around the waist, but when belted tightly, it’s the best.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, Warehouse
Shirt, Phillip Lim for Target
Belt, ASOS
Brogues, Topshop

Animal Print A-Line Skirt

Every time I wear this skirt, the compliments roll in. It’s garish, in-your-face, covered in a mix of snake and leopard print and has deep pockets. It’s perfection in a skirt.

I like pairing it with something equally as bold, just because I can.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, Lavish Alice at ASOS
Tee, pinched from Al
Boots, Emma Cook for Topshop
Necklace, Love Moi
Watch, Michael Kors

Do you have a trusty winter skirt?

Frothy Skirt of Goodness

Ahhh. Just look at this ombré skirt of tulle extravagance.

Imagine getting out of bed in the morning desperately late for brunch with friends. You don’t have time to do your hair, so you wrap it up in a scarf. You grab your sunnies so you don’t need to rush your makeup. You already have a cute piped pyjama top on so all you need to do is reach for a skirt. And why wouldn’t it be this one?

Thank you Giambattista Valli for this beautiful creation.

Want it on Wednesday: The Metallic Pleat Skirt from My Dreams

I can honestly say that this is the kind of skirt I dream about owning.

Don’t judge me or my dreams.

This skirt is everything I’ve been looking for and more, because it’s rose gold. And lord knows us bloggers seem to be obsessed with anything, and I mean anything, that is rose gold in colour.

Everything about this is dreamy. The colour, the pleats, the way I imagine it rustles when you touch it. Everything.

Thanks Topshop for having a sale and knocking this Metallic Pleat Skirt down to £15 quid. I owe you.

My Wistful Whistles Wish List

I love Whistles. They have this filthy habit of making clothes that are so dreamy, I can’t help but fall in love with them. I then can’t get them out of head. I have to start looking at them everyday just to get my fix.

My hit list has got so long it’s become a bit of joke. It’s never fun to laugh on your own so I’m inviting you to share my habit.

1. Meghan Crepe Dress, £115
The bright blue and simple shift shape instantly caught my eye. This would be the perfect dress for me. It’s fitted around the bust and then hangs slightly away from the body, finished with a dipped hem. Imagine it with a pair of killer heel and some bold jewels.

2. Juno Flamingo Feather Print Top, £295 and Vienna Flamingo Feather Full Skirt, £280
I first spotted this dreamboat top and skirt combination in a Whistles email.
It was like a love scene from a movie. As soon as my eyes fell upon the soft pink hues, neat collar on the cropped shirt and full waspy skirt, it was love.

3. Daisy Foil Skirt, £125
This shimmering metallic skirt is twirling perfection. I can see myself wearing with chunky knits now or a little cami in the summer. I’m sold.

4. Linn Lace Dress, £165
How could I not include this dress? If I had the money I would without a doubt snap this up and wear it proudly to my best friend’s upcoming wedding. In fact, I’d never take it off it’s that damn beautiful. The lace, the bright pink, the cute pleated skirt, I want it soooooooooo badly it actually hurts.

So, that’s my current Whistles wish list. I have no doubts that it’ll only grow and grow until my shopping bag explodes.

What’s on your wish list?

Want it on Wednesday: ASOS Metallic Skater Skirt

This weather is making me very miserable so I’ve been pretend shopping online to cheer myself up. This is becoming a regular occurrence nowadays as all my money goes towards bills, hen dos and weddings. I guess I’m at that age now where people start growing up and let me tell you, I don’t like it one bit.

So for today’s Want it on Wednesday post, I went for something with a bit of shimmer. This Metallic Skater Skirt from ASOS.

Look at it! Ain’t it pretty. Doesn’t it make you want to swirl and swirl and swirl? If the answer’s no, you should probably stop reading this now.

I find skater skirts really easy to wear and love pairing them like the image above, with a slouchy jumper or a sheer shirt. In fact I have a 3/4 sleeve jumper in black, grey and pink that would work with this.

I can wear it with thick black tights now and then eventually, when the sun comes out, go bare legged.

Plus, at only £10.50 in the sale, it’d be rude not to, right? Thanks ASOS, you do spoil me.
