Shut the front door is one of my favourite ever sayings from one of my favourite Americans, you can find her here. And Whistles is one of my favourite British shops. And I’m getting married. So you can imagine my delight when I heard the news that Whistles are MAKING WEDDING DRESSES!!
Friend: “Where are your earrings from? They’re just adorable.”
Me: “Oh these? Just Oscar de la Renta. No big deal.”
The irony of me hating the heatwave but getting married in Antigua was pointed out to me this week. All as I fanned myself with a single sheet of paper, attractively wiping the sweat from my ‘tache, while googling to see if there was a product out there made to stop thigh chafe. All of this while on the sauna that is my crappy old train. It’s a glam old life.
OM Freakin’ G. Shit just got very real. I now have a wedding dress!!! And with one disaster appointment, an unsuccessful lug around all the London department stores and with 15 months still to go, I was not expecting it to happen at all.
Do wedding dresses really have to be whiter than white? Do they have to be bought in any kind of store, from bridal boutique to major department? Or can I just wear whatever I like, bought from wherever I like?
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been staring at a pile of wedding invites and stacks of beautifully crafted envelopes. Shit just got real. I’m getting married. And I’m now a mix of super excited and super terrified.
I’ve got my first bridal appointment in the bag, swag. And I didn’t even lose my shit or cry. Not once. Although I did have to take my shoes off immediately and have two women shimmy, squeeze and then tie me into a dress…
I am very much a newbie when it comes to the wedding photog game. In my mind I know the photos I’m after and I know what’s important to me and Al but I had no idea where to start when it came to actually looking for the photographers who could capture all of that. Especially seeing as we’re getting married abroad. Luckily for me, some of my best friends have already been there, done that and bought the t-shirt, meaning I only had to ask…
I love being engaged, I love the romantic idea of getting married on a beach and I also love binge-watching wedding shows. Hands up if you’re a fellow Say Yes To the Dress addict! However, I am quite literally shitting myself when it comes to finding a wedding dress and shopping in a bridal boutique. I do not want a scene from Bridesmaids on my hands. However I do have IBS, so, you know, you have to think about these things… Anyway… Here’s why I’m petrified.
